As part of a national College Book Art Association Initiative, I had the opportunity to design a single sheet pamphlet zine as a personal response to the wake of the 2016 US Presidential Election to serve as an outlet to react creatively in a particularly tense social/political climate.  I made an edition of over 50 zines to exchange with ASU Papermaking students, UofA Letterpress students, and as part of a traveling national exhibit hosted by CBAA. This zine will be download-able for anyone to print out from the CBAA website.
My zine was made in response to the rise of Populism and the relationship of media and politics in modern society. The pointing hand, called an index, is a punctuation mark originating from illuminated manuscripts, before becoming a major symbol in letterpress, and finally evolved today as a mouse cursor over hyperlinks. The repetition of indexes makes a strong sense of direction for the reader to follow; paralleling the growth and power of Populism in the world. The overlaid transparent images throughout the zine are open for personal interpretation and reflection.
